I had the good fortune to spend my early years in the small rural hamlet where my ancestors had been homesteading for generations. A relationship with the land, with the seasons, with weather was a given. The decision to become an artist happened early, and the pursuit of an art education took me to several cities over the course of several years. With all the degrees in hand, I returned to northern New England, and fell in love with the land all over again. I am enormously grateful to live a life that changes with the seasons, and to live in a place where weather always has a place in the conversation. I deeply love the spare winter landscape here on the island, when the bony rocky nature of the place is revealed, and the meeting of sky and land is apparent in all directions.
